Our illusion of "CONTROL"

Most people, including myself, have been brought up into an environment that has conditioned us to create the worst habit ever!  We have been taught to use this one word so wrong that it gets in our way, hurts us, ruins so much, causes pain, and makes our lives miserable!
What am I talking about, what is this thing I am referring to?
CONTROL
What is control and how is it that it causes so many issues?  Because we were never taught how to use it. For most people this word is an illusion, something that is impossible, BUT that is only because we never learned what it really is and how/when to use it. Everything you think you know about control, you need to forget.   What we have learned needs to be unlearned, the habits we have need to be changed with new habits. Once you realize how to properly use control then your world will start falling into place.  This is something that is going to take lots of practice, time, and effort. They say it takes 21 days to develop a new habit and 21 months to develop a new lifestyle.  Most of you will read this and it will hit you!  You will be confident that you can maintain this new behavior and think all they have to do is change an old habit for a new one then they will be successful. FALSE!!!!  For 3 weeks YOU HAVE to consistently be mindful how you are acting and reacting and in time this will become easier to do. In 3 months you should reach your goal on understanding how to use "control" the right way.  Just as you think you are set, things in life happen, and you start falling into the same old habit you had before.
So how are we all using "CONTROL" wrong? Most people try to control the wrong things. We try to control the things that are impossible to control and do not control the one and only thing that we can truly control, OURSELVES.
We try to control everything and everyone around us, yet the only thing we can really control is ourselves. This goes for everything in our lives. Once we give up trying to control the things that we could NEVER control and learn to control ourselves then we will finally be in control of our lives.
I am going to leave you with just a few examples today on how we use control the wrong way (I will write about this subject on and off to give examples). You cannot control the future, the past is gone all you can do is live in the moment. Once you start worrying about what WILL happen you are trying to control something you have no hope of doing. You cannot control how other people act, what they say or do, how they think or behave. The only thing you can do is control how you react to whatever they do/say/react/act etc. When you get into an argument, most people fight for control which is why you are arguing, BUT what you are NOT doing is controlling yourself, which if you were, you would not be in an argument. You fight to try and win when all you are doing is losing. You lost control of yourself and made yourself upset. Realize one thing and it will bring you more peace; NO ONE else can make you upset, mad or do anything YOU do not want to do.
